A SILENT APPROACH TO HOUSEKEEPING

Frogs Hospitality Services and Jobcare

partnered to train three deaf people and one partially deaf person the art of Housekeeping (Room Attendant) in Brisbane.

 

Trainer "Tarquin" states "it was exciting to take

on this challenge to see if I (as a trainer) could get these students to industry standard.

I was a little apprehensive that the deaf 

peoples' barriers would be prove to be too 

great as their culture experiences many 

knocks in life."

 

Tarquin went on to say "with the use of interpreters who could sign this was not a problem".

Greg on the tools

Debbie (a partially deaf student) said "The 

hotel staff were very friendly and one staff member signed to me,  this made me feel 

very comfortable".  

 

Greg (Deaf student) said " all the staff of 

Frogs have been very helpful.  At first I was 

very worried about how they (Frogs) would look after us, too my suprise they were all 

willing to help and very patient.

 

Tarquin went on to say "special thanks to 

Linda from job care and the interpreters for helping make this happen".
